I am currently working on a three-year project funded by the Army Research Lab and the United States Military Academy through a National Research Council Research Associateship award. The project is titled Quantitative relationships between stress distributions, microstructure and high strain rate performance of advanced ceramics.

I presented some recent progress on this project at the AMS Annual Meeting in New Orleans, LA on January 7, 2007. It was presented at the BIG SIGMAA paper session entitled "Mathematics Experiences in Business, Industry and Government".
